The Rev. Cathleen (Catie) Coots Santa Barbara District Superintendent
Cathleen Annette Coots was born the 4th of 4 children, to Fred and Patti Coots, while her father served the Bella Vista Community UMC in Montebello, CA. When Catie was a teenager she heard her call to Ordained Ministry, and upon her ordination became the 4th generation UM pastor here in this Annual Conference.
Her first appointment was as an associate in Capistrano Beach, followed by a solo appointment to North Oxnard UMC, as an associate in Westlake Village, as a solo pastor in Chino, followed by a solo pastorate at Newport Center UMC, from where she was called to be a district superintendent.
Catie has a great love for the UMC, and the California-Pacific Annual Conference particularly. She sees that in this changing world we need to find new ways to be faithful to God's call to be the church, making new disciples, for the transformation of the world. Catie is also the mother of two young men, Bryce Donavon who attends Cal Poly SLO, and Cory Donavon, who attends Northern Arizona University.
